Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy Initial Evaluation

This service is specific to athletes/individuals with pelvic floor dysfunction that is interfering with their sport/activity level and training. This may include urinary incontinence, urinary frequency during activity, urinary urgency with activity and more. 

We will start with a detailed history to understand your current symptoms, progression of symptoms, medical history, and current training plan/goals. We will utilize this information to determine what to examine and assess as well as tailoring education and treatment to you. 

There will be a thorough orthopedic examination to assess mobility, strength, flexibility, and functional mechanics to determine the impact on your pelvis/pelvic floor. 

There will be a pelvic floor examination that may or may not involve external observation, external palpation, and internal palpation with strength testing, mobility testing, and tissue integrity assessment either vaginally or rectally. 

Utilizing both an orthopedic and a pelvic floor examination, a full assessment will be made regarding functional limitations and a personalized plan of care including but not limited to education, stretching, strengthening, manual therapies and adjustment of mechanics. 

Within 24 hours, you can expect a follow up email that details the findings, recommendations, review of the education provided and next steps covered during your session. You will be able to reply with any questions or concerns.

Our goal is to help you return to your journey as effectively as possible and allow you to continue with training/competing with reduction of symptoms and reduced risk of future symptoms. 

Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy Follow Up

A 60-minute PT follow up session designed to assess your current progress and continue with the established plan of care at the initial evaluation. This may include progression of exercises, manual techniques, neuromuscular re-education, stretching/breathing techniques and continued education. 

Once again, you will receive a follow-up email within 24 hours detailing any new insights or recommendations, progressions from the session, and next steps to further enhance your treatment/plan of care.
